These are pictures of the books you use to play.  I prefer the third edition, but there are several different editions, the latest one I know about is 3.5 th edition.

Dungeon Master's Guide

This is the book that the dungeon master (who is basically the god of the game) Gets all the rules.

to the right is a picture of the Player's Handbook.  Below is the Monster Manual.  Below and to the right is the Monster Manual II

players_handbook.jpg

This is the Player's Handbook, it has all the information that you need to create a player and to equip, etc. that you would need, it also has the spells you can cast and the stuff you need to cast the spell.  It basically has all the information the player's would need to play the game

monster_manual_one.jpg

This is the monster manual number one.  The monster manuals have all the stats for the monsters and other things in the game that can attack, with the exception of NPCs (Non-Player-Character).  Also another thing in this book that is handy, is the templates, where you can create a character that has a special species, for example, you can create a half dragon character this.  Well the Monster Manual has all the monsters you hear about and some you would never even think of in 1.325648 billion years, give or take a couple.

monster_manual_two.jpg

This is the Monster Manual Two, which is basically the same as the first monster manual with the exception where it has different monsters in it.  This one has a really cool template, the SCORPION FOLK.
